Geocaching

June 1st, 2006 site admin No comments

We seem to have caught the geocaching bug. Basically, you get a GPS receiver like this one and you can key in waypoints which then send you to secret locations where there are geocache boxes with stuff inside and a log to sign. More pics will follow of our success (and failure).

First football training

April 23rd, 2006 site admin No comments

Yesterday we went to our first football training session. First of all we had to pass to the other person with the inside of our feet, and then on our laces. Then we played real football. We were a little bit scared to begin with because we went to the wrong group with the big boys and then we found out where our group was. Some of our friends were there like Alfie, James, Tom and Lewis.

As ever, the pics are here (but you’ll need the password).

Mid Hants Watercress railway

April 9th, 2005 adam No comments

Today, we all went on the Mid Hants Watercress railway for a steam trip to Alresford. Being on a real steam railway was a real treat for the boys and they enjoyed the old-fashioned carriages. We stopped off at Alresford for tea and then caught the last train back.

Tenby 2005

April 5th, 2005 adam No comments

Last week we spent the Easter week at Tenby with all the Fair Oak lot. We stayed at a lovely cottage near St. Florence. It was a huge cottage sleeping 12, with 6 adults and 6 children in.

The highlight of the week was the boys learning to swim without armbandsin the pool. They got very confident by the end of the week and enjoyed strutting their stuff round the pool. Joe even swam lengths of the pool.

We also managed to visit Pembroke Castle which the boys loved running and climbing around, pretending to be Sir Lancelot and Sir Galahad.

Folly Farm also received a visit, proving to be very popular, especially the fun-fair rides.

We also visited Heatherton park where the boys spent ages on trampolines and playing with the diggers in the sand.

Top all that off with a couple of days at the beach and you had the recipe for an excellent holiday.

Pics are here. (password required).

February 13th, 2005 adam No comments

Yesterday Phillipa, our babysitter from where we used to live, came and visited us and we all went to Milestones. We had a great time and would thoroughly recommend it for anyone who has school aged children.

You can have a peek at our milestones pics to give you some idea of what it is like.

We baked some cakes. The boys got quite messy doing it but really enjoyed the creative side of cooking. They especially like the measuring and mixing.

Boys start school

September 30th, 2004 adam Comments off

Today the boys started at school for the first time. From now on, they’ll be going in every day for the afternoons for the first month and then full-time for from November.

They have been so excited to start, and have been having weekly story times for 45 minutes in the afternoon.

They met their friends, Tom, Cameron and Lewis there and played with the Lego building a house. Joseph said it was really hot, and Isaac said it went very quickly.

You can see some pictures of the boys on their way to school at:

Birthday weekend

August 5th, 2004 adam Comments off

This week, we had a special time celebrating Teresa’s birthday and the boys’ birthday the day after. To celebrate we went camping near Weymouth at a farm. We drove down early on Monday, and stopped off at Upwey to have lunc at a water garden. The gardens were idylic and very relaxing.

We moved on to East Fleet and quickly got the tent up. However, the inflatable beds weren’t so easy, but with a little help from an electric air-pump we were well on our way. As we were putting the tent up a couple of girls from our neighbouring tent told us they were packing up due to a storm coming our way that night. We thought “yeah, right!” and blindly carried on setting up camp.

The boys were very good all day, allowing Teresa to choose exactly what she wanted, and calling her the “birthday girl”. However, they were to use exactly the same claim the next day on their birthday, when Joe received £5 and felt the need to go to the beach to visit the Snail rides with his £5 note (“It’s my choice” he said, when we tried to talk him out of it)

On Monday night, we went out for the boys’ first ever sit-down curry. Well, that’s no strictly true as they had gone in to one before, but just never ate anything. They were really hungry and ate loads up. We were a bit worried about whether our tent could take the strain later on though!

We then spent a lovely evening wandering down Weymouth Sea front, looking at the lights coming on and watching the people on the fun-fair rides.

Eventually it was time to call it a day and head back to the tent. During the night, a thunderstorm came our way with lightning and thunder, and heavy rain. However, our 10 year old tent did us proud and didn’t let anything in, and we were still dry by the morning.

That morning, Teresa cooked a slap up egg and beans breakfast and we headed into town where we had a drink and mooched around the seafront. Portland Bill lighthouse was only a few miles away, and so we paid a trip there. The boys weren’t allowed up the lighthouse, due to height restrictions, but they were happy to go rock-pooling instead.

That night, we headed back home and had a pizza in pizza-hut, which again, the boys lapped up.

Everyone came over in the evening and we all had a good time opening the presents.

Pics to follow soon.

We all celebrated Joseph’s and Isaac’s 4th birthday party this weekend, at a local village hall. It was a lovely glorius day, with lots of children coming along to have fun and play party games.

We were surprised by a visit from Congo and Bongo – I wonder if you can tell who they are?

Bike riders!

July 29th, 2004 adam Comments off

The boys learnt to ride their bikes without stabillsers yesterday. They’re really confident riding up and down the road and turning round in a circle to come back again.

See some fuzzy pics here.

You’ll also find some recent photos of John and Sally’s wedding in the gallery and also a trip to Cynthia and Julian’s where we set off a rocket.

First school visit

The boys attended their first visit to school. They loved it, although Joe was a little unsure at first. Their teacher is very kind and friendly and set them at ease.

There’s only pic to see this time.
